When Does the New Toll Come Into Effect?

The new toll fees for trucks over 3.5 tons will be enforced from July 2024. Logistics companies must prepare in advance to avoid unnecessary costs.

Why is There a Truck Toll?

The truck toll ensures that heavy vehicles, which cause more road wear and tear, contribute to maintenance costs. The toll revenue covers:

  • Road maintenance and infrastructure improvements
  • Air pollution and noise reduction measures

Who is Responsible for Paying the Truck Toll?

According to the Federal Highway Toll Act (BFStrMG), the following parties are responsible for toll payments:

  • The owner or registered holder of the truck
  • The logistics company operating the vehicle
  • The truck driver (in specific cases)

Certain vehicles and categories are exempt from the toll charges:
