What is a Handheld Scanner?

A handheld scanner is an electronic device that scans physical documents and converts them to digital representations. As a result, this can be digitally saved, updated, moved, or emailed within the digital network.

Specific reading devices are required to obtain the information behind the codes for additional data processing when barcodes are captured. With either red or infrared light, the handheld scanner can read barcodes and detect code patterns.

The handheld scanner is made up of two parts: the actual reading unit and the downstream decoding unit. In practically all device types, the decoding unit is integrated with the reading unit, and they are usually employed in retail, logistics, and industry.
