In freight and trade, export means selling and shipping goods from one country to a buyer in another. In road freight specifically, it usually means trucking the goods from a manufacturer or distributor to a port, terminal or border crossing for the next leg of the journey.
An export shipment normally involves customs documentation and classification of the goods. Each product is declared under a commodity code (based on the international HS code), which determines duties and any restrictions at the border.
Export is the outbound side of cross-border trade; the same shipment is an import for the receiving country. Clear paperwork and correct classification keep goods moving without delays at customs.
