What is EDIFACT?

EDIFACT is an acronym that stands for Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce, and Transportation. It is a standardized technique of electronic data transmission between enterprises.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNECE) defines EDIFACT as "a set of internationally recognized standards, directories, and guidelines for the electronic interchange of structured data between independent computerized information systems."
