In logistics, the point of origin is the location where goods start their journey through the supply chain, the place where they are sourced, produced or collected before transport begins.
The point of origin is the reference for route planning, transport cost and delivery timing. Setting it accurately helps plan the shortest viable route and estimate arrival times. In the IMPARGO Planner Module, the point of origin is the first stop from which a tour is built.
In sea and air freight, the equivalent loading origin is the port of loading (POL). The counterpart of the point of origin is the destination or unloading point.
