Freight is the goods or cargo that a commercial carrier moves by truck, rail, ship or aircraft, from raw materials to finished products. The word also refers to the cost of that transport (the freight charge) and to the whole process of moving goods from A to B.
"Freight" has two meanings: the transported goods themselves and the price of moving them. The freight rate depends on distance, weight, the load space used (loading metres) and the mode of transport.
In road freight, goods usually move as a full truckload (FTL) or a less-than-truckload (LTL) shipment. You can work out the freight cost per shipment in advance with the IMPARGO cost calculator.
