What is Net Weight?

The net weight of an item/product is the weight of the item/product minus the weight of the packaging or container. Net weight is the weight of all the goods loaded into a container minus the weight of the container.

To compute an item's net weight, two measures must be known: the total weight and the tare weight. Total weight minus tare weight is the most basic calculation. Total weight is the mass displacement of the complete item in pounds or kilograms, including packaging and anything else attached to it. The combined mass displacement of the container, packing, or any related elements that are not considered the real product is referred to as tare weight. The net weight is always obtained by subtracting the tare weight from the overall weight.
