The Eurovignette is a time-based toll vignette for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) weighing 12 tonnes or more. It is required on specific motorways and toll roads in several European countries, currently including Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Sweden. Previously, Denmark was also part of the Eurovignette system but replaced it with a national kilometre-based truck toll in 2025.
Transport companies buy the Eurovignette for a chosen validity period (for example a day, week, month or year), rather than paying for each individual section of road. The charge depends on the truck’s emission or CO₂ class, its number of axles and the selected duration. In recent years, tariffs have been updated to reflect CO₂ performance, so cleaner vehicles can benefit from lower costs.
The Eurovignette applies only to heavy trucks and other HGVs from 12 tonnes. Cars and light vehicles do not use the Eurovignette, but in many European countries they still need national vignettes or toll systems when using motorways.
