What does EAI stand for?

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a middleware-based approach that connects a company's separate IT systems so they can share data and work as one. Instead of each application running in isolation, EAI lets them exchange information automatically.

How EAI works

EAI acts as a central data hub. A middleware layer sits between the applications and handles the communication between them, so a change in one system is passed to the others without manual re-entry. This gives flexibility and makes it easy to add new systems later.

EAI in logistics

Freight and logistics firms often accumulate separate tools for warehouse management, accounting and order processing. EAI links them into smooth end-to-end processes. It works alongside related concepts such as ERP systems and EDI. A modern TMS like IMPARGO follows the same principle, connecting to ERP, telematics and accounting systems through integrations and an API.
