The Fleet Module enables comprehensive real-time GPS tracking of your drivers using the IMPARGO Driver App – a smartphone-based solution that supports order assignment, order data management, and driver communication.
Integration with existing telematics systems such as Webfleet or Trimble is also possible. Once a driver is connected via the smartphone app or through an integration, their GPS position appears on the map, allowing real-time tracking and management.
Important to note: GPS tracking and order execution in the DriverApp are functionally independent. As soon as the Driver App is assigned to a vehicle in the Fleet Module, orders can be dispatched and processed by the driver – even if GPS tracking is not enabled.
If GPS tracking is deactivated, a modal will appear in the app informing the driver that location tracking must be enabled for real-time tracking to function. [Read: For Dispatcher: Connect to DriverApp]
Reasons why you might want to GPS track your truck:
- Current Truck Location: Real-time tracking allows you to monitor the exact location of your trucks at any given moment, enhancing fleet visibility and management.
- Estimated Arrival Times: Accurate calculations of estimated arrival times based on GPS data ensure timely updates and improve delivery scheduling.
- Automated Notifications: Sending manual or automated arrival notifications keeps all stakeholders informed and reduces uncertainty regarding delivery times.
- Route Analysis: Analyzing deviations from planned routes to actual driven routes provides insights into driver behavior and route optimization, contributing to more efficient logistics operations.
To GPS track your trucks, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access Fleet Module.
Click on the “F” icon (Tooltip: “Fleet”) on the left sidebar and open the → Fleet Module.
Step 2: Setup DriverApp.
Invite a driver by → following this guide.
Step 3: Monitor GPS position of your trucks.
Follow the GPS position on the map. The map display moves dynamically, staying synchronized with the real-time movement of the truck.
Note: If you have reached your limit of free DriverApps, you may need to activate additional apps manually by clicking on “Activate”.
Step 4: Get detailed GPS information.
Hover over the GPS position of the vehicle on the map to view:
- Current speed (km/h).
- Battery strength.
- Timestamp of the last recorded position.
- Whether tracking is currently active or inactive (driver-controlled).
