Shipping is the physical movement of goods from one location to another, for example from a warehouse to the customer. A carrier or logistics company handles it once the goods have been produced and packed.
Shipping usually has three stages: receiving the order, processing it, and fulfilling it (picking, packing and dispatch). How well these run determines how quickly and accurately an order reaches its destination.
Shipping is the execution part of outbound logistics. The goods are handed to a carrier, which moves them to the delivery point. Planning and dispatching these movements efficiently is what a TMS like IMPARGO supports.
