News For Hauliers Passing Through The Czech Republic
As of July 2024, the Czech Republic has implemented significant changes to its dynamic weighing system for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). These changes are reflected in the high-speed weigh stations, according to Radek Mátl, Director General of the Czech Republic's Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD).
Hauliers, especially those from the Česmad Bohemia Association, have welcomed these changes.
Impact of New Weighing System in Czech
Dynamic weighing systems are crucial for ensuring that trucks comply with legal weight limits, preventing road damage, and ensuring safety. However, previous regulations sometimes led to penalties for hauliers due to temporary weight shifts or convoy situations.
How IMPARGO Helps with Czech Truck Weighing Changes
IMPARGO understands the challenges hauliers face with the Czech Republic's new dynamic truck weighing system. Our Transport Management Platform (TMP®) offers practical solutions to optimise routes and operations in response to these updates.
Fine-tune truck routes by adjusting parameters like total weight, axle counts, and emission classes to ensure compliance with the revised regulations. This proactive approach helps prevent penalties for temporary weight shifts during dynamic weigh-ins.

Key Regulatory Changes for Czech Dynamic Weighing July 2024
- Weight Transfer in Convoys:
- Previously, in convoy situations, the weight of a towed vehicle could make the towing vehicle seem overweight, leading to penalties. Under the new rules, such cases won’t be penalised if the combined vehicle is within acceptable weight limits.
- Example: A convoy consisting of a tractor and a semi-trailer where weight transfer would cause temporary overloading will no longer face penalties if the total weight is within permissible limits.
- Penalties for Overloaded Vehicles:
- Genuine overloading will still be penalised, including for foreign drivers. However, vehicles that slightly exceed weight limits due to temporary shifts will no longer be penalised.
- Scenario: A truck slightly exceeding weight limits due to load shifts while transporting liquid substances will not be penalised if the excess is within a tolerable range.
- Unified Vehicle Weight Assessment:
- Now, the entire vehicle combination (tractor and trailer) is assessed as one unit, in line with European directives. This prevents penalties for slight overall weight excesses when individual components comply with axle load limits.
- Benefit: This change ensures fair assessment and reduces unnecessary penalties for hauliers.
- Elimination of Axle Load Measurement for Foreign Vehicles:
- Offences related to axle load measurements will no longer be prosecuted for foreign vehicles, as accessing their vehicle registers poses challenges for administrative authorities.
- Impact: Simplifies the process and reduces administrative burden for authorities and hauliers.
- Simplified Vehicle Inspections:
- Inspections for vehicles carrying bulk or liquid substances will be simplified. These loads often shift during transit, affecting weight distribution between axles, which previously could result in penalties.
- Practical Example: Bulk carriers will benefit from fewer disruptions and more straightforward inspections.
Locations of Czech Weigh Stations (Updated as of July 9, 2024)
